Words as a reader you must know!

Now, I started reading since the age of 8 or 9, I am not sure and since then, I have never been able to give up on my passion of reading and writing. But I was not aware of so many words until recently (a few years ago) I started communicating with other readers on instagram.

Words bookstagram taught me are as follows –

  • Reading Slump

Now, as a normal person who only lives one life and does not know what reading can do to you and where you can go to, you obviously don’t know what a reading slump is. And won’t be interested as well. So, if you are a reader and don’t know this, let me tell you what it is.

And how you feel…

And then what you need…

  • Book Hangover

This is not nice. This pains. This hurts. This makes you want you to run naked on the street. Yeah. It makes you insane.

This hangover is not like other hangovers. This is the worst because there is no lemonade for this except more reading. It is like finding the right potion.

Symptoms are as follows …

And….

  • OTP (One’s true pairing)

Now, this is very important and is very clever. This is what you decide. You decide the romance between your two favorite characters irrespective of what the author has intended.

  • Ship

Otp and ships are pretty much the same thing.

But nobody understands…

  • TBR

Tbr is a very fancy word for self guilt. Tbr actually means “to be read” which obviously is bigger than your “read” pile. So, we hide the embarrassment in an acronym.

  • Tsundoku

This is another word for one’s guilt.

  • Readathon

You sit down and you read because that is the only exercise you do. Stay fit? Read for 56 hours straight. Finish that damn book.

  • ARCs

ARC simply means Advanced Reader’s Copy. It is a copy of the book due to be released. Some publishers send out ARCs to reviewers and bloggers for marketing prior to the release of the book. If you get it, you are so lucky!

You know what I am talking about, right? ACOWAR!! COME SOON.

  • YA (Young adult)

It is a reading genre especially for those teenagers and adults who are just in their prime of life. Lol. I am kidding. I read them !! And I am 23. Yeah. Take that!

  • NA (New adult)

Blah. You can read them as well. Gotta read em allll!!!!!! No matter you are new or old or dying!! Read. Read. Read.

  • Fandom

This is a whole different universe. Fandom is a group of people where they can go to the highest level of crazy and not get judged because let’s face it, they are all crazy (I am in there too). They go as far as to selling merchandise related to their favorite character or favorite book. Fandoms like Harry Potter, Game of thrones, A court of thorns and Roses, Sherlock, Hunger games and many many more.

You get to say stuff no one else would understand.

  • Fangirl / Fanboy

A more subtle explanation would be – those who are part of the fandom are individually called fangirls or fanboys.

I hope you guys enjoyed this. Click like if you did and tell me what you think in the comments. Tata. πŸ™‚
